The stocks rate in about Fine Plus overall condition. The LOP measures approximately 13 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate, which shows moderate wear at the heel and toe, along with some lightly smoothed checkers. The checkering is intact and attractive with no heavy defects. There is a thin scratch to the butt of the pistol grip. There are some sparsely scattered draglines and light compressions, the majority of which are located on the forend. There was a Marlin Bullseye in the belly, but it is missing and the hole has been filled. The buttstock has a pistol grip, fluted straight comb, and a checkered black hard rubber buttplate marked “Marlin”. Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are beautiful two-piece checkered dark walnut. The left side and top of the receiver are drilled, tapped, and filled for sights or mounts. The base is grooved for a protective hood. The front sight is a brass beaded blade dovetailed into a serrated ramped base which is screwed to the top of the barrel. Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a “U” notched rear elevator sight that is dovetailed into the barrel. The right side of the barrel at the receiver is marked with a circled “JM” proof.
